Fundamentals of Finance

What's with all these groups asking for money?

We are lucky in District 69 to have a number of parent groups that support our schools. But, this can lead to confusion about who does what, and leads some to question why we need these groups when we have passed a referendum The truth is, the school's budget does not cover everything that our children need to learn and grow in our society. There just aren't enough tax dollars to do it all, and the money coming in does not increase at the same rate expenses do, even if new programs aren't added. So, we have to do what we can to help. Along with the school board, which determines where the tax money coming in is spent, there are now three parent groups working to support our teachers and students in a variety of ways, PTA, FUND69 and FAB. We hope this information help to clarify the differences between these organizations, and why each is so important to our district.
