FUND69 has supported and awarded the following grants.


School Year 2006-2007

Madison School:

Debbie Rizki was awarded a grant of $150.84 for two Leap Pad units and additional literacy materials for classroom use.

The second grade team (represented by Jennifer Connolly) was awarded a grant of $181.10 for 6 large pocket-chart clocks (one for each classroom).

The Title One teachers were awarded $431.25 for "Read-Together" take home backpacks with literacy materials for students to use at home.

Rhonda Cohen was awarded $200 for the purchase of two sets of the Sunsprout Leveled Reading Library for use in the classroom.

Edison School:

Dana Meltzer was awarded a grant of $203.50 for Trackers Complete Add-On Package, (multiple copies of 32 non-fiction titles at different reading levels).

Dana Meltzer was awarded a grant of $79.95 for a one year subscription to ReadingAtoZ.com, a web site with books available for download which can be given to the students.

Jim O’Malley was awarded a grant of $473.95 for “The Mysteries of Earth and Mars” scientific materials for use in the NASA Space and Rocketry Club.

Katie Perry & Ashley Russow were awarded a grant of $231.12 for National Geographic books to supplement social studies curriculum on regions of the United States.

Donna Sabin was awarded a grant of $100 for the purchase of portable cassette players and batteries, for the LMC, to be used with books on tape.

Donna Sabin was awarded a grant of $539.90 for books that have been aligned to Step-Up-To-Writing curriculum materials.

Amy Anderson of Edison School was awarded $454.43 for ELL literacy kits for use by ELL students in the classrooms.

The fourth and fifth grade teachers were awarded $486.00 for subscriptions to National Geographic Explorer magazine for use during Social Studies and guided reading.

The fifth grade team was awarded $475.00 for two light microscopes and a set of human tissue slides to supplement the science unit on human body systems.

Fourth grade was awarded $263.84 for manipulatives and other supplemental materials for an extension of the Math Trailblazers Series.

Maggie Lutz was awarded $350 for a wall-mounted display case for use in "Attitude and Behavior Count" (ABC) to use as a showcase for recognition of individual students and classrooms who demonstrate positive behaviors in school.

Lincoln School:

Haidee Fernandez and Terese Prena were awarded a grant of $505.64 for listening centers to use with prerecorded cassette and CDs in the ELL classrooms.

Jennifer Jonas, Jeanne Littau and Beth Uhle were awarded a grant of $591.61 for 6 portable CD players with headphones and an assortment of book titles on CD.

Kate Gignac was awarded a grant of $200 to help fund the purchase of lights for use during student government sponsored events.

Angela Mell was awarded $315 for the purchase of a compact refrigerator to store lab materials related to sixth grade science units.

 

School Year 2005-2006

Madison School - "Keep Books" - $500 Grant awarded to ELL & STAR teachers for a program that allows struggling readers to receive books throughout the year, at their reading levels, which they will keep for their personal use.

Edison School - "Games to Go" - $500 Grant award to the Title 1 teachers for a program that enables teachers to borrow language arts and math games to teach to students in the classroom, and allows students at Edison to borrow these games to play at home with family members.

Lincoln School - "We Are" - $207 Grant awarded to Donna Seitzer for a project that allowed 8th grade art students to create large wooden symbols representing four important themes: culture, unity, respect, peace. The symbols are displayed at Lincoln School for all students to enjoy.

Lincoln School - 3 "BOSU Balls" - $282 Grant awarded to the PE Department. These fitness balls are a part of the Lincoln fitness program to help develop balance and strength.
